Re: Toledo

Hi Peter:

Here is the route I drove to Toledo > Crossing at Port Huron, I 94S > 696W > 275S > 75S.
This route is what CAA suggested, it's a detour around the detour. It added 45 minutes to an hour of drive.
Google it and you will see you will run the 275 right to the end and hook up to the 75, only a few minutes drive on the 75 and you are already in Ohio.

Re: Toledo

As I write this the Toledo Weak Signals show will have just recently ended. I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who drove down, to learn how they navigated around the I-75 construction areas. How extensive is the construction? How far south does it go? Is the southbound lane drivable. What alternate routes were taken? Any info that you could provide would be most appreciated. I'm heading to the Joe Nall next month and normally take I-75 south.

Thanks,

Peter

Re: Toledo

Well, just got home and have some impressions. A lot more were MIA on the exhibitor list this year, but there were some deals to be had upstairs in the swap meet and some interesting people to talk to.

The general thought was the hobby retail end was suffering big time. DuBro and others that are sources for builders and kit supplies all found the Pac Rim mail order business a real threat.

Unfortunately, for the first time since the mid 80's our friendly border service decided to charge us tax on our estimated value. Difficult to do when grabbing bits for $2 or $5 at a pop and with no receipts.

Re: Toledo

What added to the fun was taking the Air Force blue painted school bus to the remote hangar site to see the SR-71 and others. Because of some obscure rule, (I guess they did not want us seeing the flying saucer) that trip went outside the perimeter and was an hour each way!
