Re: 2016 Aerotow B.C.

We are a Happy Club today, as of now the St Annes R/C AirForce facility is a MAAC registered Club and R/C Hobby Facility.
Our Club site with Location Map is now listed on the MAAC interweb pages at http://www.maac.ca/en/clubs_details.php?club_id=805

We are Anticipating the Hosting of Our first event at Our new site this coming July 1st 2nd 3rd and invite all interested modelers to come out and see Us.

Come and enjoy aero-towing beautiful large scale gliders in BC's Okanagan valley at a time when thermals are plentiful. Slope lift may also be available depending on wind direction thanks to the 300 ft slope just off the southeast end of the grass runway. Launch off the grass and land on large smooth area with no fences or obstructions to snag tow lines or cause damage during landings. Bring your sailplane with an aero-tow release installed
Electric sailplanes can be flown but aerotowing activity takes precedence and will limit "electrics" flying time

For full information, location maps and contact people = http://www.maac.ca/en/events_details...&event_id=5424

Onsite Camping is permitted, hope to see You all there.

Sounds like it was a good time , wish I could have made it but I had my flight tests in hope on Friday after a week long soaring camp and yours truly is now a licensed glider pilot

Re: 2016 Aerotow B.C.

Well, unfortunately, the weather gods were not kind today so no aerotowing was done. There was a small break in weather later in the afternoon and some took advantage of it and brought out electric sailplanes. The Chinese dinner was enjoyed by all with lots of left overs for another day. So, a thank you to the Washington state, lower mainland and interior enthusiasts that participated. It was a great opportunity to network and plan future aerotowing events in B.C.

The next aerotow event is planned in Vernon B.C. the beginning of July.
Update posts to follow..

Cheers

Re: 2016 Aerotow B.C.

We had a great day yesterday. 15 registered pilots, lots of aerotowing activity and some really, really nice sailplanes! Ivan, Dave C and myself are providing tug duties. I did have a dumb thumb moment with my Hangar 9 33% Pawnee when the tow line caught the fence at the end of the runway...needless to say the fence was taken down shortly afterwards. Gave me an opportunity to spend the rest of the day with the new DLE 170 powered Bidule 170. Its a dedicated giant towplane that is very popular in Europe. She is an awesome performer.

Just a reminder that the High Country Flyers will be hosting an aerotow this weekend at the Logan Lake Morrison Field off of the Coquihalla Hwy. Should be a great time!!
