That is pretty cool!

And yes Russ I like to think I'm past the training wheel stage!

Except I already know if Merv's involved - nose gear won't be!

Hey Merv! About those retracts on a Senior... I happen to know where you can get a nose gear and some actuators

Re: Sig Kadet Kit Bash

Here's my electric Kadet, it's sure nice to have so much room up front to work with. A bit of work but really an easy mod! Started by cutting the cowl back to the former just in front of the windscreen and reinforcing it with a bit of ply. Then I cut out the firewall for the noise maker to make room for the battery tray which I later made with balsa sides & a ply bottom. Before making the tray I made a new firewall / engine mount by slotting it into the nose former of the Senior. The beefy balsa nose makes it easy to set up the thrust angles and then just build the tray to the new firewall.

Flies great!

Ok now I'm really paying attention Merv and I thought I had gone wild on mine but this is above and beyond. Looking forward to seeing the build/mods.

Re: Sig Kadet Kit Bash

I just recently acquired a Senior that has been modified by Mr. Crunch. Some of the repairs have been made so apart from a nose job and a bit of covering, receiver and engine it is in pretty usable shape. It was previously electric power but with all the unused 4 strokes I have sitting around it will be making sweet music in the air this time.

Sorry Russ!

As we all know these planes CAN'T be built stock so the first change is conventional gear! There is already hard points installed for floats (see, told you no one can resist changes!) so aluminum gear on the forward float mount and tied forward to the firewall with spokes is the quick easy solution there.

For power I have several 4 strokes in the .50 t0 .60 range but I am leaning toward my Saito .66 gasser.

The tail is in good shape (naturally, last one to the accident scene) so no Vee, Tee or twin tail this time. The wing though... how does stall tips, spoilers for roll control and flaps sound?
