Re: E-Flite UMX Pitts Well I maiden it without any surprises as this thing is a great flyer with that big plane feel to it, reminded me a lot of my Byrons Pitts. I was using stock E-flite 2/200 packs and they seemed to work great but I do have a couple 3/225 packs on hand for when I want to get adventures with the performance of this plane. I found it very smooth and must say that I enjoyed it more than my Beast for the pleasure of flight. Maybe because it reminded me of my other larger Pitts, not sure but one thing for sure is its a lot of fun. John |

Re: E-Flite UMX Pitts The fairings will pop of on a rough landing as Astar says and I put a bridge across the clips with hotglue the same way. I also cut off about a 1/4 in. off that sharp back corner. A also put a dab of hotglue at that point where the fairing would touch the wing. just to give the wing a hardpoint. Great little plane. Was flying it the other day where the temp was about 16 F and the batt started pooping out in about 3 min flight time so just be careful it doesn't get too far away that you can't get it back. |

Re: E-Flite UMX Pitts This aircraft is a little noisy out of the box compared to other models. It's just the type of motor and the build of the Pitts itself. The AS3X does compensate and smooth out flying but it can only do so much. If there is a really bad vibration it will cause confusion for the AS3X board. A couple of helpful tips if you don't know... Hot glue your wheel fairings to the wire landing gear. Where the fairings clip to the wire gear. The fairings can pop off. On the area of the underside of the wings where the trailing edge, sharp corners of the wheel fairings are located close to the wings, use blending tape or something like that to protect the wings. If you flex the landing gear rearward you will see what I mean. |

Re: E-Flite UMX Pitts I have had this little guy since last Spring and it does fly really well considering how small it is. Fellow pilots marvel how well it does fly. With harmonic balance issue...make sure your motor shaft is not bent. Try a little piece of scotch tape on the back side of a prop blade. Then shift the tape to the other blade. Keep doing that with size of the tape until you notice the vibration is less. It takes time but it can be worth it. Also check all flight controls and servos for tightness. Even the little control rods need to be looked at for the possibility of "buzzing" moving at a certain frequency. |

Re: E-Flite UMX Pitts I taped over all the inlet and outlet airholes with scotch Tape to help keep the batt warm in the cold weather. You won't get the full motor run out of the batt otherwise. Doesn't hurt the batt at all, just a shorter motor run. Also make sure the batt is above 60 F before you charge it. Have fun and don't forget your fur lined knickers and galoshes Dino. Gord. |

Re: E-Flite UMX Pitts Hi guys, I just bought one last week. I love the look of it and am very excited to fly it. It's still pretty cold though and will have to wait for the weather to warm up. What are you guys using to charge the batteries? My BNF didn't come with a charger and the batteries don't have power leads on them. It looks like a balance lead to me. They are the Eflite batteries. Thanks. |

Re: E-Flite UMX Pitts Well after some more reading on some of the sites I've decided to order a couple 3/250 packs and try them. Have to wait for the snow to start to clear or maybe a nice set of ski's are in order. John |
