Re: Pylon Racing in Ontario the throws from the book are probably fine for a trim flight. dual rates vary on every airplane for a lot of reasons... but stick to there recommendations to start. As far as expo... I like more expo then most. My Toni-race trim is ail. 35% elev.40% when I flick to high rates for landing its 50%. elev. stays about the same expo wise. also you want the plane to kinda fly knife edge for the whole lap. We roll out slightly to not lose altitude on the straightaways.(a little right rudder can help) faster nitro planes will hold that edge better. smooth, consistent laps. that's the key. these are some of the things I work on. Cheers Cory |

Re: Pylon Racing in Ontario Thanks for the advice guys. I'll look around but I already bought 2 8X8's so I'll probably run with one of them. If anyone has recommended throws for a PB that would help, unless the book throws are OK. On a fast airplane you don't want too much... And what expo are you guys using? I'm brand new to pylon but no stranger to fast airplanes. I'll throttle back if it gets to be too much. Cory already provided excellent directions but if someone wants to PM me a text-able phone number that would be great (so that I can contact someone on race day if I get delayed.) W |

Re: Pylon Racing in Ontario Quote:
Looking fast! 8x6 on a 4 CELL is best. also a 9x6 on a 3 cell is a pretty good sport set up, to get the feel of the airplane. longer take off roll, but stable. |

Re: Pylon Racing in Ontario Do you have a 8x6 electric APC prop, if so put it on for your test flights, your plane won't be as fast and will give you time to trim it out. The 8x8 prop is much faster and that is what we all use. Any questions give us a shout. Also I will send you the direction to our field. Ken |

Re: Pylon Racing in Ontario Oh, and did I mention the 'Bird is almost ready. I installed smoke-screen and FOD dispensers for my mini-me in the cockpit to even up the odds on raceday. I am a rookie after all. He he he. Fingers crossed for the maiden on Sat... W |

Re: Pylon Racing in Ontario Very generous and a most enthusiastic post, Dave. I am looking forward to it, spent much of the day in the shop getting the 'Bird ready. We are now on track for the 5th! (We weren't this morning) And hey, any RC event that ya gotta wear a hard hat to - well I'm in! W |
