Re: MINI IMAC Fun Event

My lovely giant orange beast weighs around 44 pounds but the new wings should put it into the 41-42 range which is perfect for a DA170. Jim if you are interested let me know and we can work out something. The new wings have to be sheeted and finished so we can talk about that too. It is a big plane on par with the 43% Carden.
I was toying with the idea of putting the wings on a midline but it flies very well and looks very scale like with its current position. You can e-mail me at

Jim:

I think it is around 46 pounds. The new wings should knock off around 5 to 6 pounds alone. I think they are made of 1/2 inch plywood, or at least that is what they feel like. I'm running a DA150 and it is very good but could have more up-line power. A 170 would probably work really well in it especially with the new lighter wings.

It is a sweet plane to fly and will be even better when the new wings (which are nearly ready to cover) are installed.

Yes please let Lee know.

Do you know current weight of Frankenplane?

Was thinking of an engine update to a DA170 so either way it would be steller performance.

Jim, thanks for the info on the series.

It did earn me second in Hamilton and 4th in the nats despite a mechanical issue that was my fault. The new wings will definitely reduce the weight.

I will miss it when my plane is rebuilt and I hope it goes to a good home.
Brendan,

I'd be VERY interested in "FRANKENPLANE LIGHT" when the time comes for you to enjoy yourrebuilt Carden.

Who's the boss here Gaston, there's no time to argue, that's his job so get in, sit down shut up and hold on!
This weekend we had our field closer, I had a problem I haven't experienced before, I didn't know what to fly! I flew the Sbach during the week so I took the Edge 540 out for the day that and I was taking my combat plane so I was taking the glow fuel anyway. What a blast flying combat, it was my first time doing it and I was the only one to make a cut. The youngest pilot almost got a cut but he only brushed the streamer over his wing. Those OS 25's don't have the power I'm use to flying.
