Re: Fun Fly coontent

I have found that often at fun flys, many folk underestimate their capabilities and tend to hang back, letting the more confident folk do all the competing. One ploy I used was to do team competitions and insist on more experienced fliers working with a less experienced partner, teaming their scores. One successful event was to have the 'junior' flier perform a simple sequence of maneuvers, starting with rise off ground, to landing and stopping motion, timed on a stopwatch. Then the 'senior' flyer had to do the same sequence of simple maneuvers and DUPLICATE THE TIME of his partner. Their score would be the difference in times in seconds. Lower score is better. (Competitors must surrender their wrist watches at the flight line)

The first time I tried this the winners were a very hot 15 year old and his 8 year old partner. Standing at the flight line they were counting "One mississippi.. two mississippi.." and managed difference of ONE SECOND! Seasoned fliesr were amazed.

I also used the team approach for taxiing tests and various other events, just to get more involvement by the less experienced fliers.

We had a contest here but it may not lend itself to your event. Start with post #49

Fun Fly coontent

I am organizing a Fun Fly for my RC club. I need suggestions for competitions. There will be planes and helies, gas and electric.

The contests must be simple for beginner-intermediate flyers.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you all
