Sounds like a torque converter type arrangement.
I'm assuming you had to figure out before hand where you wanted the power (front or rear).
I was kind of thinking more like the read evo cars, just simpler.

1/8 scale buggies and truggies have awd setup with a center diff and you tune how "locked" it is with different wieght oil just like the axle diffs.

4wd systems, s-awd exist?

This is probably more of a history question then anything.
I am looking into designing a 4wd system (out of boredom more then anything) and was wondering what systems already exist.
I know there is belt, shaft and the dreaded chain (have chain, hate it). Did I miss any?
I'm thinking of a shaft system (mid mount motor) where it transfers power to the front or rear based one which end has more traction. Left and right wheels would still use a standard diff so cornering wouldn't be affected.
Has anyone ever tried this in RC?
