Oh I thought you have one that you are about to try, I did get one and I will be installing it on my Trex 500 ESP and will use my DS760 on my 600N but its a slow build. I will let you guys know once tested and installed...

I'm amazed as to how small is the quark gyro from Spartan it's smaller than a quarter

Re: What Gyro for Trex 500

This is amazing, hence I posted my GY401 and 9253 combo.. Originally I was going to use the GY401 on my Trex 500 ESP and 760 on my 600 Nitro but now I have made a change of heart.

I dont do any 3D's yet but would like to keep it for a while until I grew up and become Alan Z Jr. ( I wish )

This great news!

Re: What Gyro for Trex 500

The 401 was a good gyro a couple of years ago, but it's dated and no longer represents value for performance.

Between the DS760 and the GY401, there is absolutely no contest. The Spartan is in a whole other class and it performs flawlessly.

I use a DS760 on my 500 and it is hassle free and performs great for my intermediate sport/3D flying style.

I used GY401s for the longest time on 450s and a Raptor 50V2 and they didn't hold like the DS760.

There are other competitive offerings with excellent performance if you want more options, but you can buy the DS760 with confidence.

Spartan DS760 gets my vote; unbeatable for the size and performance, once set up correctly, though!

I used the 401 on many helicopters and tried the 760 on one helicopter and now prefer the 760!

Re: What Gyro for Trex 500

I tried the GY401 on my newly built 500. Tried it during one of those gusty wind days, can't hold the tail really well. It is good on my 450 (rock solid here), but I don't like the feel on my 500. Then I replaced it with GY520, what a difference. Definitely better than the GY401.

+1 go for Spartan 760. Read good things about it.

The spartan is superior to the 401 in nearly every way regardless of the heli it's going on. It's lighter, it holds the tail like a vice, piro consistency is unmatched. Given the option, go with the spartan.
