Re: King Tech turbines

The Kingtech 170E/F isn't exactly a slouch...accelerates pretty quickly from an idle imho. If i were in the market for an 80 newton turbine, the VT 80 would be at the top of my list as Peter carries them and he has a very very good price: http://www.altecare.com/jetsmuntvt80.htm And you can run it with a good 2 stroke oil.

The Kingtech price is lower but thrust is less, installed weight/size and fuel consumption is more.

Thanks PaulD that's exactly why I was leaning towards the Jets Munt.

Re: King Tech turbines

Thanks Paul I think I will go for a Jets Munt 140.

Thanks all for your input.

Re: King Tech turbines

I have helped set up 3 K80's and they all came with very conservative ramp settings from factory. Once these were opened up the acceleration was pretty good - certainly way better than a P70 but not as good as some of the newer stuff like the VT80 from jets munt. If acceleration is really your concern, and maybe weight, I would buy the VT 80 for the few bucks more.

Good solid running turbine though.

Re: King Tech turbines

Thanks for the insight guys..... How is the throttle response on them?

Re: King Tech turbines

Noiser is NOT a downside IMO. The Jetcats are getting so quiet you can barely hear the things. I want my ears to bleed!!! The sound is the entire reason I want to fly turbines.

Re: King Tech turbines

There isn't one turbine manufacturer that hasn't had issues at one time or another
I have 2 K140's kero start and am very happy with them
I would buy another without hesitation
I have owned 21 turbines over the years from different manufacturers JPX, RAM, AMT,JETCAT,PST,SIMJET, GOLDEN WEST

Just my 2 cents
