Re: Laser Kit Cutter Companies for Ziroli etc....... True, but cutting the large Mosquito, think the short kit is around $400, whereas the one I did for a buddy cost me about $20 in Baltic Birch Ply, and another $40 in balsa, took me about 3 evenings. I read up on all the issues, so sorted that out before I even cut the parts. That's a lot of money now that he can spend on other parts for the aircraft. A 1/5th Hurricane and Typhoon cost me about $40 to make myself a short kit. Huge savings, and keeps me busy over the winter. I can also customize for matching up holes for running wiring, etc, to suit my gear. Long as you're not in a big hurry, I find I get a ton of satisfaction cutting my own kits. |

Re: Laser Kit Cutter Companies for Ziroli etc....... Yes agree, so whether your cutting the parts out yourself or getting a lazer cutter to do it for you, they'll both be wrong, so might as well get the laser cut parts and modify as req'd, that's my theory anyway. |

Re: Laser Kit Cutter Companies for Ziroli etc....... Agree, assuming you're providing the plans. Precsion Cut kits owns all of the Don Smith Plans, for example. They know the plans are flawed, they admit that some of their parts don't fit. But, they state that as we're building from plans, we should have the skills to correct the issues ourselves, so they won't fix it. I find that unsat. |

Re: Laser Kit Cutter Companies for Ziroli etc....... Word of warning, just because it's computer generated, and laser cut, doesn't make it accurate! I've heard and seen a lot of bad about certain kit-cutters, (not in Canada), that know they're producing flawed parts, but refuse to do anything about it. Choose carefully. |

Hi, Yes, MRAerodesign.com, the owner name is Martin, and he can cut any kits... Best is to send him a full size PDF of the plan when possible... He just did a short kit of Roy Vaillancourt Hurricane for me. And he has really good quality wood, not like precision cut kit were the wood is so so... Cheers |

Re: Laser Kit Cutter Companies for Ziroli etc....... Cut your own parts. It's not that difficult. Canadian Tire sells a nice scroll saw, and disc belt sander, perfect for that. Glue the paper templates from the plans to dollar store bristol board, cut to rough size, pin onto stacked parts, and cut/sand. I've done a pile of ziroli stuff, the parts have all been great, no issues. A few evening work, will save a pile of money, and your new scroll saw and disc/belt sander will be paid for in no time. Then everyone in your club will come to you for short kits. Because I've gotten really handy at doing short kits, a lot more of our club members are now building planes! |
