Re: 50 size Bobcat

i guess i can remove the tank, and push the battery back, i left it there for now just incase i change my mind and go back to nitro. The ESC have been good so far and not heating up inspite of a lack of vent.

[quote=Skidoo55;2388969]Bill, I guess that the holes for your retracts let in cooling air for the ESC? Nice Setup!

Yes the air comes in through the retract opening, The back of the fuse is opened up so the air flows across the ESC. So far there have been no overheating issues.

Romeo, I'm glad that you got it all together and in the air. It is definitely a cool looking plane!

Re: 50 size Bobcat

Where are your battery and ESC located? I'm using a Turnigy 600KV motor. My ESC is mounted on a shelf in the rear of the fuselage and the 6S battery is on a tray which slides under the ESC. I'm using Robart air retracts with the air tank in the nose. The CG came out about 10 1/4' -10 3/8" behind the leading edge at the root with no additional ballast. The airplane flies well with no bad characteristics other than a tendency to roll if you add full power too quickly from a guide.

Yes it's the plane i got from you, i left the tank in, and i can only push the battery so much to the back cause there's a steel rod that gose accross the fuse. it's for the wing alignment i think.
nose heavy did not bother me at all i flew anyway, and love to go fast.

my set up

G60 turnigy 500 kv
100 amp turnigy
6S
13 x 8 pusher.

thanks for the input.

Re: 50 size Bobcat

Hey Romeo, it that's the plane you bought from me, it's a 50 size Bobcat. I had a 61 Nitro on the back, the fuel tank was in the rear, pretty much above the CG. The Battery was right in front of the fuel tank. The CG is pretty far back on the wing. You probably want your battery over the CG. If you get the CG right, it is very stable in flight, the nose won't dip in turns. I could fly it inverted with very little down elevator required.

It should be a nice combo with that motor.

50 size Bobcat

i recently modified a 40 size bobcat into electric, and it came out very nose heavy.
I'm using G60 from HK and use 6S. Even with the battery behind the CG tt's still nose heavy. The nose deeps every turn.
I thought i heard that this have a CG issue on nitro engines, and have to put weight on the nose for balance..
