Re: soldering brass The petroleum based flux is a translucent light yellow/green colour, and could easily be mistaken for Vaseline or Vicks Vaporub. You said yours was white and creamy. Can't be petroleum based. Maybe someone switched lids. |

Re: soldering brass Dwayne, I just checked out the field - sopping wet, and the soldering pastes in Candian Tire and I bet you got the water soluble paste. Right beside it on the shelf is the petroleum based acid flux everyone is used to. Cans are identical except for writing. I didn't want to spend $8.00 or more - even in Cdn. Tire money to try this stuff when I have a pint of the old stuff to use. Perhaps the water based stuff is only good on copper. My only recommendation at this point is to buy a can of petroleum based flux - under $5.00. |
