Helmut, do you have the original jpeg for the dash? I tried copying the photo in the blog. It was pretty grainy when printed. Thanks

Here’s the light glued in and with the cover being glued on. Extra tape apron in case of glue runs. Final product

Re: RV-4 42%build thread

I’ve been away for a while so finally working on the lights. I took my tail wheel bracket off and drilled a 1/4” hole at about a 45degree angle into the stab area.

Just to clarify a bit. I have a large roll or servo wire. I fed it into the tube from the cockpit side and pulled it out the stab opening. Then I ran the my rod through the fuse and pulled it out the stab hole. Next I taped the wire to the my rod and pulled it back out the bottom of the fuselage.

I positioned the light by the vertical stab and cut its wires about 8” below the fuselage, enough so I’d have room to solder the servo wire splice.

The top of the vertical stabilizers was cut out to fit the light, heat sink and glued in.

Next the wires were soldered, don’t forget to use heat shrink over the joints.

The wires were pulled back through the fuselage.

I also mounted the controller and soldered the connector from the strobe light..

Re: RV-4 42%build thread

On mine the tube was visable under the rudder covering. I then drilled a 3/4 inch hole from the rear of the rudder post forward at the same height as the servo wire tube going forward. I cut the vertical tube at that same height and fed the wire forward.

Re: RV-4 42%build thread

Hi there I did drill from the top down on my kit but I have seen pictures were there is a tube in the fin and the only way is to drill from the bottom up. In the picture you can see the tube way in the back.
