Re: Planes, How to store them..

The hanger would be a loop of light cord, which are then twisted to form two loops which go around each prop blade. Hanging by the prop means that everything has all the forces (suspension and gravity) working along the fuselage.

Good idea with a pegboard wall and prop-on-nose models.

Hi all, I am a professional restorer of aircraft, with 14 years experience, and advise that a good way to store the airframe is hanging by the spinner, this is important for aircraft gasoline, and more as the plane is saved long, Care, if the plane is hanging tail maguera gravity bend the fuel and it does not work properly when flying the plane.

Re: Planes, How to store them..

I have built a stand by screwing a 1"x2"x4" to the top of a 1"x2"x12" down leg and then screwing in a holding rod out the side.( used for hanging work tools, they are red and 1/4" and 5" long) with a dip bend bent in . I then screw it to the ceiling and they hold planes up to the .60-.80 size motors. The bigger stuff I hang nose up on the wall with catch pans under them for exhaust drip. They have been up for 10 to15 years and are still there.

Re: Planes, How to store them..

I think that you also have to consider the size of the plane - we don't all fly foamies or Spads.

Some of us have 'Other' concerns and solutions.

Here are a couple of my planes stacked up on a mobile rack that allows me to shuffle it around my garage as space and projects dictate.

The third photo is a little traditional until you realize that it is a 120 sized plane that is stored at the top of a 14 foot high wall. Yes I need a ladder to get it, (but it is a 'Short' ladder).

We all have our own issues.

Re: Planes, How to store them..

Thanks. I probably should pick up 4-5 packages the next time I'm over there. Got an e-jet and the NexStar that I need to hang up.

BTW, nice radio! Sure that one of the buttons isn't marked "symmetry"? (Sorry, WW2 engineering joke about British engineers reworking an American design that had an odd number of buttons....)
