I had one problem with thunderboltrc with my first order, but he handled it swiftly and professionally. Definitely in my bookmarks to order from again!

Out of the 10 orderes or so I've sent jeff at tbunderboltrc he's only had one mishap on my orders but I'm glad he did truned out I didn't need the part anyway and within two days he had the part I needed in the mail. The only thing I get frustrated with on thunderboltrc site is that some stuff is always out of stock so I have to resort to gh. But he stocks some other really sweet stuff like the ign holder in put in the decathlon lol. When pro-rc is all stocked up it will be sweet first thing I'm buyin is a fortitude fuel tank lol

Re: Great hobbies

Will most likely be sending some buisness Lornes direction as well. Just waiting until he has all his stock.
Thunderbolt has treated me very well, GH has too, just their online ordering seems to have gons a bit astray. Next time i need something from there, will call Edmonton and check with Travis first to see if they have any first.

Now it's time to fly.... Maiden MSXR yeeeehaaaa

Re: Great hobbies

I've always had good experiances in the edmonton store with the people. But as for stock the staff is lacking on doing counts and keeping stock up sometimes. But if I have to order an item that's gonna take awhile lol. My neighbor gave me the new eflight edge qq for xmas. Went in at the end of jan to get the battery for it as it doesn't come with one. They sold them all for xmas but didn't have enough batteries in stock for all the planes they sold from the store. So I ordered one and drove the 50mins back home. Still not in month and a half later. Last spring I was building one of my first gassers and bought my first new gas motor (os gt33) didn't know they didn't come with standoffs. So in jan ordered the ones I needed as they didn't have any selection in the store. Three months later of being told couple more weeks couple more weeks. I ordered straight from horizon got them in a week and a half. Two weeks after I got my horizon order I got the gh ones. Had a arf bought by a friend in lue or trade for a plane canceled two times and reordered. Because it showed available online then an email a week later each time to say they no longer had a supplier lol. But it was on the website for a week after marc got the emails saying no supplier pick another arf. Thrid arf choice came in lol. So long story short I like in store service but will not order through them. Thunderbolt rc and my buddie lorne at pro-rc from here on out.

Just my 2-cents worth

Re: Great hobbies

To clarify my point. I have had more good experiences from GH than negative. I have just found in the last year, things have gone sideways and I felt the service was less than it used to be. Where I live, North West coast of B.C, LHS is 8hrs away, one way, so no matter what I need, it requeres a phone call. I base my desisions on my needs, and where it can be bought. This being said, I consider Lesters hobbies in Vernon ( 15 hrs away) my LHS, and I try to support him when I can. for my large scale stuff, its all from Jeff at thunderbolt. Now there is where the superstores of hobbies can take a lesson in customer service and followup. I will continue to oreder from GH, but from now on, only items that they have on hand to avoid being dissapointed.
I refuse to order offshore, my belief is they will be the demise of many a hobby shop, ARF,kit or engine supplier that we have all grown to like. ( we have to look no further than Webra, Sig, Royal ect.....) to see that this is factual. This is a personal choice that I have made. Aside from engines ( I will run gassers from Europe) everything else is ordered in Canada, if at all possible, even of they are the middle man.
In a nutshell, this post was put up to voice one persons experience( Mine) in the last year and by no way meant to detract anyone from dealing with GH. I just feel that they should look back in the past, and see what brought them this far, and go back to best practices that work. I think most of the older modelers can remember ECMC, and how things were done then, maby GH needs to remember what got them to being the largest hobby center in Canada.

Cheers
Derrick

Re: Great hobbies

selling on kijiji I meet other people from oshawa and Durham region...they all tell me the same stories of how he treats people.

Buying from him is a last resort action on my part and I don't say a word when I go in any more...in and out asap.

I lived in edmonton few years back and I bought from GH all the time...not once have I been treated any where near as bad as discount hobbies.

LOL just by googling his address? Wonder if anyone has directed him to his address on google... I'm usually more polite then i should be even when someones being an ass, but if he acted like that with me i think i'd blow a gasket in his store.

Don't treat me like garbage otherwise i'll ensure i do the same in return.

How the heck is he still in business if it's that bad?

Re: Great hobbies

I've never had an issue with them. It's like this with any business though, great experiences, bad experiences. Such as, I'll never own another Ford ever again. Horrible experience at all levels all the way up to the high ups in their R&D combined with current practices. There's obviously a lot of people that will disagree with me, but whatever, we all make our own choices based upon these experiences.
