Re: Gaston Boissonneault Passed Away today

I remember him after the first time I met him, years ago at a FF at the 400 club.
He gave time to anyone, from then on I remembered him.
Because of 6 hours of driving distance we seldom met.
Made some contact here on RCC, with his long lasting thread "BLUE FOAMIE"
Great flying indoor plane.
So I called him up one day to join the gang up north for a FF, I hardly new him and he hardly new me, he said I could stay at his place, I was well feed and never bored. What a Nice guy.
Thanks again Gaston

Re: Gaston Boissonneault Passed Away today

Wish I could have made the trip up to pay my respects but work complicated things for me. I am planning to make a trip up that way in the future to do what I couldn't this week.

Sitting here thinking about all the great times we had with him bring tears of both joy and sadness he was a great man, I'm glad that I got to meet and become friends with him.

Hugh, that wrapped Gaston up perfectly. He had a big impact on me, it's been a rough week for me and probably a few more. I have a love hate feeling for this thread; everything everyone has said is bang on, much bringing a smile to my face but it still hurts knowing he's gone. I wish I could have been there yesterday.

Re: Gaston Boissonneault Passed Away today

Gaston Boissonneault was laid to rest today.
He had a work ethic like none other I have known and once a project was started, there was no rest until it was done.
He approached his flying the same way. He loved to fly indoors in the winter and would pick a manouver to learn and like a dog with a bone he stayed with it till he had it right.
Just when he had grown tired of flying around with no purpose, he discovered IMAC. He took to it like a duck to water, not because he was competitive, but because it challenged him to be a become a better flyer and gave purpose to his flying. He never stopped promoting precision aerobatics to fellow flyers as a way to improve their abilities.
He took an interest in everyone he met in the hobby. And when he thought it was called for he would spearhead a project to help out whoever needed assistance or a boost. Many would remember his collapsible stick plane project to raise money for the Canadian IMAC team who were going to the World Competition in Muncie. It would have been few who escaped his persistent sales pitch - I know, I bought several.
Fly safely my friend, practice your Sportsman Routine, and remember to listen to your new caller.
Hugh

Reading these moving tributes to a man I have never met makes me think of all the wonderful modelers at my field. I assume that they will be there next weekend.....so I shall enjoy their company every chance I get. I am glad that so many of you enjoyed his company while pursuing a hobby we all love.
