Re: Ah! That Feels Better Well after a bit of time off, experimenting with never flown planes and a bad crash with a Porter, I got my desire to test fly again. The victim this time was a used 4*40. First flight, I wasn't paying attention and hadn't programmed in a timer. Flew for at least 10 minutes and landed, killing the engine when the prop ticked the ground. No damage to the prop or plane. I re-fueled and set up a count-down timer. took off (slight crosswind) and flew it for another 10:16 landed and taxied to my flight box. This thing is a twitchy witch, and even though it is bright orange, orientation is an issue for me. If/when, it needs work, the wing or fuse will definatley be two different colors. I would think that may alieviate the orientation issue. Won't it?

Seams I'm the weakest link lately. Re: Ah! That Feels Better  Hmmmm! Her best before date. Well on the 27th of June, I will have served one life sentence plus 5 years for bad behavior! I am fairly certian she is in no where near her "best before date"!The funny thing about the throttle linkage is that I did use the ole z bend and solder method on the aileron servos. Like you say it can take a while to get 'em right (I got mine right the first time), but with my track record (2) of E-Z connector faiures, I don't see or hear of a better method than the Z bend/solder trick. I was sure glad I was a newbie yesterday when that plane was dartin' all over the sky. Every tidbit of anything to do with flying RC airplanes crossed my mind. If I had the same thing happen with 40 years of flyin' under my belt, I'd probably still be out there thinkin' about it!!!!! The flight ended better than it could have, it really was a failure on my part, not paying attention to the details. But like anything in life, it was part of the learning curve! |

Re: Ah! That Feels Better Brent, thank-you for the call last evening. We both have some time invested in that Aerostar. So fly the bag off of it! I think this winter we will start a couple of scratch built airframes. Then put a best before date on them. I noticed that throtle has become a little more important through experiance! As per our conversation scrap the easy to adjust linkages, go with the old tried and true even if it takes 2 weeks to trim, and adjust a plane that lasts 7yrs. Giver Hell buddy! Glue and fuel, and come home giggling like a little school girl. Marlene likes all the fun you are having, seems some may be rubbing off on her! Re: Ah! That Feels Better Oh, It was fixed before I had to go to work. Now my work day, thats a whole other story!!! Imagine, a contractor for a Gov't housing complex 140 km from home needs to pay $50 bucks extortion to have a landfill gate opened for 2 minutes? The dump (landfill) is only open 2 part days a week, 4 hrs on Wednesday afternoon and 3 hrs Saturday morning. What a wonderful way to welcome a specialist into your town. And even though there isn't another arborist within 200 km, a business license ($100) is also needed. Na, I ain't playin' that game any more. I`m way too old to fight the man any more, I hope all their trees fall down! |
