That's a swell idea too!

Info about the series, track details with dates and addresses, information about websites like this one where people can go to get even more information, etc.

I like it!

imported_BBFBCAP What are people's thoughts about doing a 'race series poster contest' or something?!? That topic sorta' fell through the cracks.

Krupp had mentioned about doing a series poster, and providing them to hobby stores, tracks, etc. I think that would be a terrific idea myself. Would certainly help in drawing more racers out to join in on the fun, and maybe even some more spectators.

Thoughts?

Kevin when you took off your Glorcs hat I have to say I agreed with you 100% that we can not be all things to everyone. I would like to see Glorcs once again be the place where the best races show up to compete. I like the idea of helping out a a new racers and yse races should get there confidence in club racing.

So we now have 7 races. Cool

Now please make this a best 5 of 7 races! (no heavier weighted final)
Ok David. Hat's off bud. Fire away!!! LMAO...

imported_BBFBCAP I'm not sure where my point got derailed, but let me clarify something about the tracks charging 'X' amount for their race fees...

As a racer myself, I know that racers seem to have a sixth-sense for the amount of effort that went into a tracks preparation, and as long as the effort is made by the tracks (and it typically is), than the racers WON'T have any issue paying the GLORCS maximum. It's just that simple. Furthermore, tracks are typically run by people with at least some racing experience, so they should know what racers like, want, and expect.

Racers recognize hard work on the part of the tracks. No two tracks or facilities are the same, and that's completely understandable. Just because so n' so has this that, or the other thing, DOESN'T MEAN that the other tracks have to have it too. It's more a question of whether the fees reflect this, that, or the other thing. If say, a track isn't able to offer hydro, then perhaps they could offer more of this or that, larger trophies, air conditioned porta-potties, people to feed grapes to the racers while they wrench, etc. If they do other things instead, then nobody will have reason to complain.

Tracks are at liberty to charge what they feel is fair. Both to the racers, but also to themselves. They simply have to use their judgment when it comes to this. It's a sensitive topic that can ultimately reflect on their reputation, and that's entirely their responsibility. There isn't a track on the 2011 schedule that isn't worth the maximum fees in my opinion, providing they do the work in preparation for the race.

It's also important that tracks all exert approximately the same amount of effort in preparing for their GLORCS race. If they don't, then the potential for a "why should we? They didn't do it and made just as much money as we did at our race" scenario, is frighteningly high. This is a very real and potentially scary problem. It's now my responsibility to make sure it doesn't happen because if it does, than shining stars could quickly fade.

If you doubt my theory, think of it this way...2-3 years ago you couldn't go to a GLORCS race and not expect there to be a t-shirt illustrating that particular GLORCS race right? Did anyone get a GLORCS shirt in 2009? Think about what I've already said, and how it might apply to even this simple t-shirt scenario.

To wrap this up, when energy and moral is up, then everything else goes up with it. Tracks are better when people recognize their efforts and compliment them on what an amazing job they did hosting the GLORCS race. GLORCS racers are better when they get to race at those well prepared tracks, and are content to pay slightly higher fees to do so. Everyone wins!

When you compare it to other attractions to just go view, I don’t think the fees charged are unreasonable.

The intent was to support Track owners and shed some light on all the work they do to hold these races.
Sorry for the confusion.
Good point !

Pretend for a moment you own all your own paintball equipment, and found some strange place that lets you use your own paintballs as well. How much do you think you'd pay to play there for 3 days straight? Pretty sure it would be something like $25 to $30 per day.
I'm sure that it would be more than that.... $50 for a weekend is not at all unreasonable to me.

Incase anyone wants to know each Porta-Potty is usually around $250 - $300...

Baaahhh I'm staying out of this topic!
