Re: Great Hobbies free shipping

Some good info for folks following this thread:

Today I placed an order with GH, and added a comment that they really need to bring back the free shipping. Continuing my strategy to nag them in any communications I have with them.

This evening Wendy from the service team left me a voicemail. The long & short is, if you include a note about a competitor offering free shipping, they will price-match it.

So I guess the free shipping IS still available, only now you have to request it. It's not nearly as convenient or obvious as clicking a shipping option with $0.00 for the cost... but at least it's still around.

Last spring I shipped out a couple small .46 size Pitts mufflers and by the time I paid for the shipping, I almost gave them away....... Might as well left them in my parts box.
What it costs u to ship is not what it costs them

I for one have been making a point of reminding GH of Hobby Wholesale's free shipping whenever I'm in communication with them. My hope being they will re-institute it soon. If not I'll have to reconsider my mail order practices.

Re: Great Hobbies free shipping

My brother was going to place an order with GH. He contacted them and they said the Free Shipping is done....oh well.......to good to last I guess.

That being said, like mentioned in a previous post Hobby Wholesale still offers free shipping on orders over 80.00 so there is another alternative.

hi . 2 weeks ago i wanted to make an order from great hobbies. the shipping option did not include canada post because the stike threat was looming. this was on a friday. purolator was the shown option for 36 dollars. then the next week canada post was indicated as an option for 16 dollars. i emailed about the 100 dollars get free shipping and they replied saying it was no longer offered.josh

I am definitely used to calculating it all . Did it on the other thread, not here.
1.3X is low
Some guys forget to factor that stuff in, when comparing US shops with ours (mea culpa).

So it sounds like the free shipping offer is still valid, from the most recent posts. What gets me is, if it's still available, and I can pick Canada Post as a shipping option... why the heck are they making us contact them separately to request it? To me it sounds like a classic case of left hand not knowing what the heck the right hand is up to.

I swear, somewhere there is an unwritten rule of business that the bigger a company gets, the dumber it gets. I've seen proof in far too many companies over the years!

To be up front with customers instead of ticking them off? When I worked retail, you retained a lot of business and brought in more just by being honest with them.
