A quick update, then consider this thread done, the Mustang continues to impress with it's great flying characteristics. The ASP .91 is super smooth, starts quick, and idles forever, it simply doesn't want to quit. I'm very satisfied with the combo.

Just CA a few slabs of lead in front of the belly scoop. He'll never notice!

Made several flights with the Mustang, including some formation work with a Great Planes P-51, that I built for my buddy Kevin McKay. The two aircraft are almost identical in size and shape, but his is done in a captured German scheme, so no problem telling them apart. I have to get the mechanical retracts setup, hopefully for next weekend, so I can pour on a bit more speed, I made Kevin's Mustang way too light and fast! lol

According to the Model Airplane News article from 1989, it's the most scale canopy and nose section the writer had seen, not bad considering it was only intended to be a sport scale fun-flyer. I get though, why he had a hard time getting Nick Ziroli to hand over the transmitter, it's a hoot to fly.

Now, I'm no scale judge, nor a real Mustang fanatic... but I don't think the outline is all that bad at all. I've certainly seen far, far worse! Grats on the successful maiden.

Re: 29 year old P-51

Two flights today, absolutely no trim changes required, which was rather nice. Once the handling was confirmed, played a bit with the throws, upped the elevator throws a bit, and really opened up the throws on the ailerons. Airplane is light, fast, but lands very slowly. I can best compare it to my Ultra Sport 40 for handling. It's unique, antique, and for fun flying, a winner. The colour scheme, while very cool on the ground, actually can be a problem if you get too far out, it quickly melds into one solid shade of blue, but keeping it in a bit, and all was great!
