Every battery can be bad, i had a life that wouldnt take a charge at all, brand new outta the pack, always a good idea to cycle them before using

Hmm still no word from Graphtech, BUT my welder bent a brand new gear for me and it will be ready this weekend! So looks like next week for some more air time. Hopefully the weather cooperates!

Wow that is scary! This was a nimh pack too, last one for me. I have been using Life batteries in all my other planes and been loving them. I can't wait to get these issues sorted out, the plane was flying so nice, flew like it was on rails and was really responsive. Awesome design by Tom Lowrie.

If you are looking for an aluminum landing gear solution I would contact the guys at TnT Landing gear. I have replaced the kit LG in a couple of planes with the gear from this company and it is a night and day difference in terms of quality of metal! If they don't already have the pattern they will happily make up custom gear for you.

Re: S.I. Models 42% Weeks Solution - Finally done

So after 10 cycles on the battery I can't get more than 110 mah out of it. This pack is done, first bad battery for me after 15 years in the hobby. Going to be switching to a regulated a123 for the ignition.

I am waiting for Brian at Graphtech to find a mold that will fit this plane, its a bit of an odd sized gear. In the meantime i have a welder straigtening the old aluminum gear, then he is going to weld in some webs at the bends to stiffen the gear up. This way i can get some more airtime in before the weather gets too nasty to fly.

Will get video of the re-maiden for sure!

True enough, batteries scare me and I never get lucky enough for a problem battery to cycle properly 5 times in a row LOL

Nice plane
True enough but when a brand new battery does not take a normal charge at the beginning of its life cycle it is worth trying to charge it in a way that gets it going. I would not trust a battery like this until it give me 5 full discharge and charge cycles at full capacity both ways...
