Re: Blade SR

Bought the blade mqx. Nice little flier for indoors and the backyard. I get about 8 min flight times with it and so far it seems pretty durable.

I think quadcopters are neat, hope this aspect of the hobby grows.

Re: Blade SR

Leave the SR alone, its a very old design and breaks very easily. An mCPx will entertain and train you, its fun, durable but motors wear out. I would wait for the 300x, its very promising. The extra 100 bux is nothing when you add up repair costs for an SR. I destroyed five of its predecessor CP Pro's learning to fly heli. Its not the cost of the heli, you will spend lots more in parts. My 2c.

I'm sorry but no... the mcpx is not better for indoors. Do not let the size confuse you. Unless you're flying in a school gym about the only thing you can do with a mcpx inside a house is hover. As a CP heli the rpms are too high and reactions are too quick to fly indoors as the RTF version. If you tone both down with a programmable transmitter then it's a bit safer but still not ideal. msrx = indoor, mcpx = outdoor. Unless your eye sight is very poor you can see it well enough for orientation up to 80' away which is more than enough for most backyards.

hevee, how much of the 1/2 acre lot is open space? i.e. flyable space? I have a friend with a 3/4 acre lot of which most is trees so not suitable for flying helicopters. His clear backyard space is actually smaller than mine. It's also the only one that meets your budget.

So either pony up the extra cash to get the 300x or better, get the mcpx which is in your price range or get the SR.... up to you. In the end, just pick something and go fly.

Re: Blade SR

Since the OP said this will be a backyard flyer I think the mcpx is ideal unless his back yard is a farm...

Re: Blade SR

Well i have all the heli's in question .
the SR is ok .. if you want to wake it up remove the flybar weights and bind it to a DX6 or better. The SR does not crash well. it will brake if you clip the wall. the rex 250 is above your price range. the MCPx is a lot better in the garage and can handle a bit of wind. and you can knock it a round a bit with out it braking. But its not big and can be a challenge to see it at any distance.
The SR UH-1 Huey is out if you want a scale look , but it costs even more if you crash it.
the 300x is going to be near 400.00 so out of your budget ..
Its tuff to tell you what to do .. But don't count out buying used it will save you cash for the fixing.. plus you might get even better .. think i picked up a trex450 v2 for 250.00 on here.. its easier to hover in my garage than the SR

Having owned the SR I can fully agree that it's pretty much garbage with blades. Get the mcpx if you can't afford the 300x.

I bought a few other items on the same bill, can't remember what the exact price was, but you're probably right.
