Re: Compass TracX FBL Unit

Keith I'm going to copy and paste this to my 3SX thread. Ok.

Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Compass TracX FBL Unit

bavarian DEMON users need to read this warning issued today from Bavarian!

Attention: A bug has been discovered in the X-series firmware (affecting 3X and 3SX systems). If using "PPM (Sum-PWM)" or "Spektrum/JR Sat" option as receiver connection, "Output 2" selected to "blank" and at the same time it is selected as channel '0' in the left function-channel-table, the system will feed a corrupt throttle out signal to anything plugged into the throttle channel (usually the ESC or throttle servo). Any throttle value over roughly 80% turns into an erratic signal.
This can cause throttle surges and potentially motor shut downs.
We are working on a firmware that fixes the bug. This will be available soon.
The current and safe sulution is: make sure that whilst not using Output 2 and set to channel '0' (deactivated, factory default), that you do not set the failsafe option for this channel to 'blank', but leave it at factory default too, which is 'hold'.
Besides this the system is absolutely safe to use.

Cheers Keith

It's simple to set up and a joy to fly ... I would assume that Trax will perform the same way but what I do know is IKON stands behind the product and the customer!

Re: Compass TracX FBL Unit

It was a toss up between the ikon and the demon 3sx. Demon won and went on the 700 which works extremely well and I'm pleased with it. I may go with ikon for the 600 and will also setup full bailout on it as well. I like having a bailout that controls everything including pitch. Especially in lieu of the accidents that have been happening. Safety is #1 and I think these features give both confidence and safety to everyone at the field.

Sorry for your horrible experience with MHS and thanks for sharing it. Tough lessons that save the rest rest of us the same experience.
