Re: Windrider B737

Thanks to Bill, I was able to bring my 737 to the Canadian North hanger and get some shots with his own 737 and their big cousins. It was awsome! Here are a couple of the shots.

Re: Windrider B737

So. last fall I took the jet to the field to try some taxi tests, unfortunately, as I was taxiing around the grass field it sucked in a lot of fuzz and floaty stuff. This jammed the fans and the motors got hot and melted the plastic mounts on the fan shroud.
I will no longer taxi around on the grass field. The fans were replaced with Dr Madthrust aluminium units. So it will be twin 6s batteries with each fan producing around 1400W at full power.
Like the full size, first flight years late and over budget. lol

Re: Windrider B737

Mine was an LX which is the same size as the new FMS. I would have bought an FMS but it is considerably heavier than our was. It was its light weight that made it so nice to fly and I wouldn't be happy with the lost performance. The mechanicals will be used in a 737 instead.
Maybe this coming winter.

I like that A-10, what make was it? Im looking at the FMS models one for a future EDF. Its such a unique plane.

Re: Windrider B737

I recently lost my A10 which was a favorite. Entirely my fault thanks to a weak BEC and too many gismos built into the plane. Any time we fly there is the chance of failure which makes it more exciting.
Best of luck with a vary unique model.

4 stripes, dont think I take your advice lightly, I very much appreciate it. I just dont have the funds to buy a 'trainer' plane, and i really liked this one, so..... I may very well be at the tail end of you saying..'I told you so!' and if thats the case, I shall accept it with grace.
I will do everything I can to fly it safely and succesfully. which I hope to do this month if all goes well.
I shall keep you posted!

4 Stripes. each fan is around 900W, so about 1800 W total for both.

Re: Windrider B737

How many watts do both fans pull in total?
Most pilots who crash their first jet have plenty of experience and aren't trying anything silly.

Re: Windrider B737

4 Stripes, re the idle, i think i read where you said that and that's a great idea and one i will do. Keeping a little power on is not a bad idea and yes, the motor sync would be assured. I will be going two or three mistakes high for the first few flights for certain.
The first flight will most likely just be a circuit, giving enough battery for one or two go arounds if needed.
Ill have it pre planned, and wont be doing any silly bugger manouvers for a while.
