Re: Tru Turn shipping to Canada - yikes! Typically, it's shipping and handling. They have to fill out some customs paperwork as well as drop it off to a postal outlet if it's larger than what they can stuff in the nearest post box on the corner. Remember, it's not just the cost that USPS or a courier costs them, there's also the time for selecting, boxing (and associated boxes/packing materials), paperwork, getting it into the shipping company's hands, etc. That being said, some companies use shipping and handling as a way to make up for cheap or 'free' prices (think infomercial/eBay). |

Re: Tru Turn shipping to Canada - yikes! Beats me, just phoned in the order and when I received it the bill said 20 buck shipping. The actual shipping on the box was about the same as yours. |

- - - Anyway, they arrived on Friday. The shipping cost still stings... but they are very nice spinners and I would order them again. |

I contacted Tru Turn by email - I was very polite but that didn't have any effect on the shipping rate. In the end I took them to task - firmly but politely - for something I found on their website: "Tru-Turn products are backed by a tightly knit family oriented organization that won't accept anything less than the utmost in service." I asked if this extended to working with the customer on reducing shipping costs and whether I should call to discuss it. The reply, unfailingly polite as all of them have been - "I have checked with the owner and those are our shipping rates." It occurred to me that I had need of a second spinner, and I inquired as to whether the $30.00 was a flat rate. Informed that it was, I placed an order for a second spinner, which mitigated the shipping cost somewhat. Kind of a false economy, but you do what you can. |

Re: Tru Turn shipping to Canada - yikes! Clearly you guys with the bad reports on TruTurn have rubbed their fur the wrong way. Many times in the past, I've needed stuff from them. Got it all directly and never an issue or high cost with shipping. Often, they've tossed in freebees as well, such as custom cutting, special sizing and so on. Got a lot to do with how you treat the person on the other end of the telephone. As for useless non-discount discount coupons, lots of people and places do that. Promise something which you know you'll never need to deliver on to make yourself look good. Perfect example: Useless Parcel Service promised delivery within 3 business days and charged about 20 bucks shipping for $5 item which I badly need and got it here after about 10 business days. They claim full refund of shipping for that due to failure to meet their promise. How to claim? Even though I paid at this end, the guy who sent the item needs to treck some 10 miles to his Useless depot and file paperwork for an item where he already took time from work and made zilch profit. You know there will never never be a claim for that shipping, So it's a bogus promise right off the bat. Not worth the hot air it took to make it. Warren Buffet with his big prize announcement for some sports pool last week is another perfect example. The requirements to win will never, ever be met. So promise what you like. Mind you, there are some people who will always believe that they have the magic touch to win what's never been won and do what's never been done and can't be. |

Re: Tru Turn shipping to Canada - yikes! I won a Tru-Turn 10% off certificate from an event, I went to one year. Problem was, the price was still more (with the 10% off excluding the shipping) than I could order it from GH or Hobby Wholesale. Needless to say that certificate went into the garbage.. I think they really don't want you ordering directly from them. My thing was, why bother with giving them out to clubs for their events if your going to ' kind of get screwed'.. |

Re: Tru Turn shipping to Canada - yikes! Not just shipping into Canada, but some companies in Canada. Its a long story which I will not bore you with but I needed 6 parts for a recliner from Palaster in Winnipeg total cost of parts less tax $350.00. Shipping and handeling $30.00 per item ($180.00 total) plus tax. Needless to say Palaster was given the one finger salute. |
