Re: Trailer Build Thanks for bumping this up! I'm going to attempt to unload this mess after our move/routing through it for the past year trying to find enough bits to keep a plane flying! Marc, I'm stealing some of your ideas, nice set-up! I need a better wing racking system and yours looks great! For fuses, I used vinyl J channel screwed to the floor and my shelf, and use bungees/pipe insulation. I learned that this is not a good idea with foam wheels. Someone asked about a roll out shelf.....that is what I have done with this 5x8 V-nose trailer. shelf brackets, 1x4's as the "rails" that are waxed up with minwax, and the shelf made from 3/8 birch plywood with a few 2x4's to stiffen it up. I have markings on the plywood to warn the end is near, and a pin to keep it secure while traveling. It can slide ahead (past the side door) or be pulled almost all the way out. I thought about table legs on the bottom of the ply so it could be pulled right out and used as a table, but that'd be a two person job. |

" I object that a portion of my MAAC fees goes to fund some obscure FAI activity that only a small percentage of the MAAC community even care about. Just think how much less our MAAC fees would be if we didn't fund these guys...." LOL. Sound familiar? |

Re: Trailer Build I have been through that trailer and its even nicer than it looks in the pics...great job Marc. I think this has got to be the longest thread sharpy has had without the FAI being debated....just saying Bill P.S. the HK LED strip lights are a great idea, nice and bright and draw almost no power! wish I'd thought of that |

Re: Trailer Build Simple solution.....buy a bigger property.......My mini acreage on the edge of town is about 300 feet by 300 feet, lots and lots of room for trailers......just can't imagine moving to a postage stamp sized lot in a city, just not for me. I have been thinking about a trailer for some time now.....this just motivates me to start looking harder at getting one. |
