Re: Fun-Key Jet Ranger Reloaded

I had some bad news about my TOW Defender but I also have bad news about this one. I do bear some responsibility for the outcome as I didn't have a spotter. At the same warbird event as I lost the Defender, a P-47 doing a high speed pass ran right up my tail making no attempt to avoid collision. I took evasive action which then put me in the path of another overtaking F-16. I had already established my flight path and the other overtaking aircraft should have move up or down, out of my airspace. Their spotters didn't bother to mention that to them because as usual, none of them informed their pilots of my spot in the air. Like most spotters, they were too busy complimenting their pilot on his skills in the air and not paying attention to what was going on. Even if I had a spotter (one of the couple of times I didn't have one there), there would have been now way to avoid the P-47. Please, if you are a spotter, pay attention to the other aircraft in the air and only glance at your pilot's aircraft to see where he is according to where the rest are. I will be starting a new CH-139 as soon as I can as there is a Little Bird that is out in front of it. Take care.

Yes. The PCV board I used for most of the build of the instrument panel and components, fuses great with CA. If I am gluing styrene to styrene, I use Tenax-7R as it fuses the parts instantly but it takes CA to bond the PVC board to styrene. I also use Shoe Goo to bond the instrument faces to the pieces of PVC board. That board is used by sign makers, everywhere, and can be laminated together, carved, sanded, sealed with a single coat of primer, and give you fantastic results in a very short time.. Thanks and take care.

Great work Don! I gather you use CA glue for much of your assemblies would this be true?

Re: Fun-Key Jet Ranger Reloaded

Here are some pictures of the rebuilding of the instrument panel. When I got back from Portage La Prairie, I had a lot of little external details to change and the big one was the panel. There were too many changes to the shape to refit the one I quickly made up so I took the base as the main block and built up from there. The pedals and floor were fine and didn't need some much as a tiny change. I'll take some pictures of some of the changes to the exterior and of the rebuilding of the WSPS cutter on the underside of the nose. It was lost to the ground in an unintentional autorotation landing on my first contest flight with the helicopter. Sigh. Take care.

Re: Fun-Key Jet Ranger Reloaded

Thanks guys. It was a good time getting here and the time taken to get the pictures was well worth the trip to Portage La Prairie. I will be watching the judging process at IRCHA and taking time to do that next year. Take care.
