On P. 56 of the article it states. "The frequency band with the below
specification:
5,650Mhz to 5,925Mhz ** is part of

Does this mean that the P3 cannot be flown without a HAM license as it operates on 5725-5825 MHZ?

but anyways, there is WiFi coming from so many of our smartphones - so even if the range is only a hundred feet, that can be right next to our receivers at the RC field and still a concern.

Basically if a club doesn;t have a rule about turning off the cell phones (and if it has neighbouring properties with modern Wifi routers!), then they have to assume they are being bombarded with a lot of RF on 2.4, 5.8 and the GSM bands - and bottom line: not much different than what they'll experience from the DJI quads.

Check out page 56 in the MAAC Magazine from March 2014 discussing 5.8GHz for controling RCs: http://www.maac.ca/docs/MAC/MAC-2014-03.pdf

I don't know if there was a follow up post from MAAC to this or not.
