Maiden Flight!!! ...P-51 .40 by Great Planes Finally had the maiden flight on the P-51 tonight and it fly's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Never even needed to trim it, shocked the heck out of me. Tracks nice, handles smooth but with authority, and gobs of power..........whoo whoo.......!!!!! Take off was nice and smooth, landing was going great until I hit the soft edge of the freshly graded gravel road we fly off. Usually the road is almost like asphalt but was graded earlier today. No damage except for slight tear of covering on the nose come, a twisted wheel, and a bruised ego for blowing the landing. Video camera had problem so no footage except for a couple of still pics. Video to be posted at a later date. |

Re: Build time...P-51 .40 by Great Planes She is all done, awaiting its maiden flight. Weather and timing just have not been cooperating. Trying to get someone with a video camera so I can film the maiden and hopefully not its demise! I have since installed the yellow spinner after the photos were taken. |
