Re: Traxxas XO-1 Stolen from Ideal Hobbies Barrie

I hope they catch the guys...theft is one of the many reasons why prices go up...one of the many reasons why LHS dig even deeper into our wallets...

anyway, my LHS MuchHobby (now online) was fantastic...prices were extremely reasonable, and service was awesome, and the store owner knew his stuff and always pointed me in the right direction...he's a great guy to chat with, even about stuff other than RC...

too bad you had such bad experiences with your LHS...but just cuz one is bad, doesn't mean all are bad...I like MuchHobby...

AdvanceHobbies' customer service is ok too, and they know their stuff...but damn, their prices are high...mark-up is insane, and i know this, because i had the 2011 distributor pricing list...

Yep, now this forum will ban me because I'm telling the truth.
You must deal with some really crappy LHS'. I've NEVER had a bad experience (other than a long wait) at HobbyHobby, Great Hobbies, A&J Hobbies, Advance RC (either store), etc.

I buy a fair amount of stuff online, but if it's in stock locally then I'll buy from them.

No offense, but if you walk in with the same tone/attitude as your post, no wonder you're getting crappy service.

As for them knowing more than you, they're in a hobby store all day and see what sells and what doesn't, as well as what comes back defective and what is reliable. I'd trust them more than random people online.

I know this is off topic, and it sucks about having things stolen and I hope they catch them, but I do agree with the above. I get things faster and cheaper online (even 'lhs' shopping is done mostly online due to my location) and they really do treat every customer as an idiot when you walk into the stores from what I've experienced, at least in Western Canada. I try to deal with the closest 'lhs's' when possible, but I can only take so much second guessing on almost every purchase, or waiting 3 weeks or more for an online purchase from them to ship...

Right now we have no feedback from the police. The truth is, even with all the exposure this has had, we probably won't see the car again. But maybe we can save this from happening to another hobby store. We at Ideal try our best to serve all customers, however from time to time when the store gets busy, we are seriously outnumbered by customers. Hobby guys love to talk, and that's great we all have a passion about this hobby, but this makes it alot harder then other types of retailers to move to other customers. We will take your comments into consideration, and build on them.

Guys working there need better basic training of what to do when store is busy.
There should always be one looking at the floor to monitor this kind of crappy behaviour.... It was obvious from the start they were full of it and came in for one and only one reason. In my store when busy we get one guy to satellite and stand just behind suspicious customer to the point they get annoyed by this... It helps. Makes them not comfortable enough to do anything. I know it is easier said than done but if not in place staff disappearing...
What about police, what did they say? Video quality is so good it should not be a problem...
On the other hand there must be someone who knows this idiots....

Mike,
I shop at ideal hobbies from time to time. heck back when the original owner opened the store I was there often enough he offered me a job. But that was back in the day... I find the knowledge great there.. I don't think I know you mike but dave and Andy are a couple of great guys and know alot of stuff but when they don't they will admit they don't and not lead you astray.. Give them some time and they will find out what ever it is you require. No purchase I find is to small for them and if the store is not to busy they will always have time foir a chat..... +1 for the guys... And the owner is a good fella as well..

Guys, let's cool it down a bit. Stating your personal opinion is fine and I know people can get heated about certain topics but let's be polite and state our opinions in a calm, professional manner, anything else just comes off as whining. If you don't agree with someone that's fine and it's not required, just keep it toned down.

The staff don't like to delete posts or close threads but if it gets too argumentative and there are any personal attacks we will.

WOW,Unbelievable.Your not saving nothing buying online.Pricing for rc parts are almost the same.Plus you have to spend extra for shipping.Example Spektrum receiver. Same price here as in the States. Put shipping with that and you pay more. You get your stuff in 4 days ordering from Ideal. Ordering online maybe 2 weeks if your lucky. As for you are glad that they got ripped off .You really have a screw loose.WOW.
