Goldberg Eagle 2 sport trainer kit
 

My local hobby shop has one of these in stock at a good price. I know goldberg makes some good Extra 300 kits, but what about this guy. Just wondering about how complete the kit is, and if you build it to plans if it's very strong, too heavy, etc...

Ideas and thoughts?

Also, I would be needing a .40 sized engine, so recommendations are welcome.

As far as trainers go, its pretty good.
But I do find it a little on the frail side.

Haven't looked into one of those kits lately but I'm pretty sure they come with all the hardware- hinges, horns, wire LG. Not sure if it comes with an engine mount, gas tank or wheels though. Definitely no covering material. Maybe a web search might reveal what is included in the kit?

That was my trainer when I started as a long history as a good trainer,easy to fly and build/repair.

I have built 2 and flown many Eagle 2 kits. As far as I am concerned it is a great trainer and with the flattened out wing option it is just a great all around trainer, winter ski or float plane. I have taught more people on eagle 2 planes than anything else over the years and they have never disappointed.
As for an engine a OS FP 40 or LA 40 or 46 will work great on it.

Built two and trained many people on these planes. Get it, its a great training plane :)

Great trainer. Learned to fly with an Eagle 2 and it got me started on this addiction. Flies well with a standard 40 engine. I think mine had an OS 40 LA and it was perfectly adequate. Had a ton of fun building and flying the Eagle.
