CENTRE ELECTRODE SPARK PLUG ?

Has anyone ever used a centre electrode spark plug in their model gas engine before ?

Are they any better than the conventional ones ?

I was at the field one day and a guy had a flame out in his single cylinder gas engine. When he took theconventional plug out he found it shorted out by a small piece of carbon. A centre electode plug would probably not have done this. That is why I was thinking about this type of plug for my gas engines.

What does everyone think about this ?

Also are they available ?

I had one in my outboard motor for about 15 years and it still worked as good as a new one. Very little wear too. I have not checked yet but they might be available from a marina on special order.

Hi Spacecowboy:
Theyre called surface gap plugs. trouble is they have such a large gap, our ign systems can't fire it. Takes about 40,000 + volts to fire it.
