Prophet Pro Sport Charger Problem
 

I'm having lots of problems with my Dynamite Prophet Pro Sport 50W charger. $50 US.
After 2 mos of working fine it refuses to work properly. Now when charging my 3s 3200mAh battery on 3.0 A, after 10 seconds of charging all 3 lights flash. Same with my 2 other batteries that are about 40% charge. (3.5V-3.8V)
Talking with Horizon Hobby....they say charge gradually. 5 min @ 0.5A, 5 min @ 1.0 A, 5 min @ 2.0 A up to 3.0A. That works .....but it is a pain in the ass & slow.
Anyone else having that problem?

So, when the lipo is already at 4V per cell, the charger is happy to proceed at 3A.
But, when the lipo is at the nominal range of 3.7V, the charger can only handle 0.5A.


That almost sounds like a power supply issue.
Can you try testing with a DC 12V battery (car battery)?

Also.. just to rule it out.. are you sure the "Li-Po" led is lit? You might get an this error charging a lipo when the "NiMH" led is active.

I took the charger back to the LHS & they tested it on 12V. Same problem.
Gave me a new charger.
After 1 week same problem. Works for 10 seconds & then all 3 lights flashing.
Set to li-po.
Now it started smoking as soon as I plugged it in a few days ago.
LHS gave me another new charger. That's 3 chargers.

Return and get a different brand.
