I'm sure most people out there know the reputation for the LT-40, but I'd just like to speak for this model as a newbie, for any newbies who may be reading. I had 3 flights on my LT-40 (that I bought used) with an instructor before I was capable of solo'ing myself, without ever using a sim. My model was originally an ARF, having taught one owner before I bought it, and I've had several hard landings, and even cartwheeled it once with only minor repairs required. I would not hesitate to recommend this model, including the ARF, as a beginner plane/float plane/workhorse to anyone.
