Indoor track in TORONTO!
Ok guys, look if no one comes out to the go-kart track at the air base (grand Prix Kartway)he is going to toss the hole idea of doing any DIRT track,he has the space ,he has everything but guy who are willing to let him see that Toronto has any dirt guys, be it nitro or elec. So if you know of a way to get the word out, help us , because he had ONE guy out last Sat. and he said he will give it a anther week or two. This is our chance to have it right here in the city. If not have fun crossing the boarder and a 6 hour drive to get your fix.

He might want to guage the market by visiting Fast Cats, or checking out the videos from the hobby show, or even checking out the available stats from the Sid's Raceway site.
Threatening to close a track that hasn't organized a race, advertised a venue, or shown a picture or plan for a track, isn't really conducive to enticing people to come out and have fun. The market appears to be there, but the owner or proprietor may have to "work the crowd" a bit better. Sorry to sound at all Crass (not my intention), yet there is a reason that some tracks succeed whereas others falter. |

I'll come
I'll drive to TO for a dirt track no problem. Unfortunately I have to work on Saturday. I'm probably not the only one either. Anyone who can afford to remain in this hobby for any time at all must work pretty hard for his income. I've started going to fastcats when I can (weeknights) I'll even run onroad alternate weeks to get my wheel on.
Give me some weekday hours and I'm there. I think maybe some others can second me on this, there was no shortage of people at fastcats on Friday. I was hoping for earlier in the week, maybe Monday-Wednesday? Just my .02 |
If he has the space, he could test out a real dirt track without a huge investment and could recover most of it with just a few events and build it from there (look at the hobby show race)....I would race at an indoor dirt track (especially as it could be a very nice facility), but I have absolutely no interest in paying to "bash" around a concrete go cart track and it looks like I am not the only one.
Some quick math: Just two races for both nitro and electric would bring in about $15k in entry fees right there (assuming 200 nitro and 50 electric entries with a $30 per class entry fee). |
It would be nice to know that he wasn't getting the dirt for nothing as well... If people want a facility then I don't think it is too much to ask to come and check it out... This is an already established business looking to diversify. I hope to be able to check it out soon as well.

re indoor track in toronto
i have to agree with johnnyboy on this one.
the idea of running nitros indoors at this place has been in the works for a while now. originally thet were supposed to set aside certain days for 1/8 nitro guys to try it out and then another day for 1/10 guys. nothing was ever posted with regards to whether transponders would be required, set dates for 1/8 ,1/10 ,electrics etc.... then last week a thread was posted that they were going to have some practice but with 1/8 nitros, 1/10 and electrics all using the track at the same time. no wonder only 1 guy showed up. personally i have no desire to try out this indoor track with my 1/10 electric while 1/8 nitro monster trucks are running on the track at the same time. lol maybe if they were to set aside specific dates for 1/10 electrics and another date for 1/8 nitros more people would be inclined to show up and give it a try. |
