Fibreglass and polyurethane

I have heard that some folks are using polyurethane instead of resin to cover with fibreglass.

Can anyone report on this technique?

Sand Box

Keep in mind that you need to do some sanding after this is all said and done. Also you have to decide if you want any flexibility ?

Fibreglass and polyurethane

Thanks for the link Igor.

Next question is - are there any folks out there actually using this technique on their birds. ????

I started that way - but switched over to tissue paper instead. You can buy it at the dollar store for a *wait for it!* buck :D It even comes in colours, which helps if you get one near the colour you want to paint with - less paint is needed. I switched to tissue because I hated all the filling and sanding needed to fill the weave, and tissue seems to be quite strong as well.

If you want to omit the WBPU, you can always try this: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=492

I'd also guess that you could mix in some of those cheapy acrylic enamels that you can buy at Michaels for a buck for a 2 oz bottle with the WBPU or the PVA/H20 to help tint things.

I'd like to get me hands on some litespan or something equivalent - anyone know where?

Brad
