50cc Pilot Yak / 3W55xiCS / ES Pipe
 

I've decided to put together another 50cc :rock:

I currently have the 50cc Edge with DLE55 / ES Pipe and love it so much, that I thought I'd try the Yak!!!

The 3W55xiCS was just tested and is a Monster of a motor, especially on the ES tuned pipe :rock::rock: Per the attached thread, the header length is now known!!!... https://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?t=147679

The firewall and motorbox top-plate needs to be installed on all the Pilots... I really, really like this feature - allows adjustment fore/aft depending on one's needs.

I set the motorbox up so that a DLE55 / DA60 will work on normal stand-offs. With the 3W being slightly longer, I needed 3/4" stand-offs for the spinner to be at the same distance.

Also, since the 3W is 4oz heavier than the DA60, I went with 1/4-20 Titanium bolts and Aluminum nuts... saves 1.5oz over steel nuts and 5mm steel screws and I've been using this on my ZDZ180/43% Carden will no issues :TU::TU::TU:

This Yak comes with a cool tunnel vent plate, so I opened up the area on the bottom of the fuse and installed it.

The ES Composites tuned pipe will exit waaaaay back on the fuse, so I cut out some of the stringers and made up an exit hole:TU:

And a few shots of the ES Tuned Pipe temporarily in place.

Tonight, I'll make up some pipe supports that will span across the formers inside the fuse to also stiffen this area up. I can then also get the coupler/clamps installed.

Last night I got the ES Composite Pipe supports fab'd up and installed. I have the supports removeable... helps to shoehorn the pipe in and out of that tight fuse if needed.

The coupler/clamps are installed and header is bolted down to the flange :TU:

More progress last night and this AM :TU:

* Throttle and Choke servo installed: Instead of using a standard servo + ignition kill, I used a pair of 1251 Savox LowProfile servos for throttle and choke. The lighter servos add 0.5oz vs a normal throttle servo and ignition kill :TU:

* Guide tubes for needle adjustment: I was lucky here... the angle and location of the guide tubes actually gave it two locations of support (mbox side + tristock on inside floor) :TU:

* Ignition installed!

* Fuel: The tank was replumbed with a good felt clunk + blue fuel tubing + fuel dot installed

* Mbox coverplate: I will screw this down tonight... this will stiffen up the motorbox:TU:
