Seting up a 2 motors aircraft

Hi, I'm finishing a Top Flite Dc-3 and was supposed to fit in a pair of OS.40 in it but I had other plans for the engines. Now I'm thinking to put electric motors in it instead, I was thinking of a pair of .46 class motors. I was wondering if it will need one or two Esc's and what size of batteries it would take and where would be the best place to install them.
Thanks

need details like size and weight of model, plus size and blade count of props.

2 Attachment(s)
Ok, so you need two motors that will give you total 110 - 130 watts/lb, each motor gives half.
Each motor has to have the appropriate kv to spin the props you choose.

For eg, Aolean 42 series with 500-600kv will turn 11*8*3 to 13*8*3 well enough to fly.

Then you need an ESC for each motor turnigy 60 or 80 amp escs would do.
Batteries, a pair of Zippy 5cell, 3000 to 3500mAh, 25C or greater should give you 10 mins flying time easy. Put them in parallel feeding both ESCs.

A Castle 10amp BEC as well to run your rx & servos.

Hello Al, its me again. On the picture you mention to remove the red wire from the receiver on the Y wire. Why is that?
Thanks

Jean,

Red ubec wire is removed as you have a separate bigger Ubec powering the receiver. Therefore there is no need to supply more power from your Esc to receiver.

If you don't have separate Ubec on your model, then only one esc is needed to power the rx other/s get there red wires pulled out from rx plug.....

I use a separate BEC to power all of my models. The BESs that come integrate in the ESCs at best give you 3 amps which is peak. If the ESC overheats it will shut down and you will lose power to your RX and then you lose the model,

Since separate power supplies should never be put in parallel unless they are specifically designed for parallel use, I usually cut the red wire in the arms of the Y..
