43% Carden Ferrari BBT Extra300 / ZDZ180
 

This project has been sitting idle too long and it's time to get it finished!!
Plane:
Some key features:
* fairly stock build with a few areas of lightening
* tunnel / mbox already set-up for DA170 & RE3 pipes

Motor:
I'm going to put the new ZDZ180 on twin RE3 pipes in this badboy!! Attached is the link to my header-length testing for this on FG!!

This is serious power :rock: - significantly more than a DA170 on pipes and we'll see how it compares to the big quads!!!

Finishing:
There's a bit of woodwork left to go and then I plan to do a nearly identical Ferrari scheme to my 40% Carden Edge :yes::yes:

Guillaume did a really nice job - beautifully crafted tunnel and glad to see there's a rear hatch!!!

I wanted to put this motor on tuned pipes and decided on the RE3 pipes.

As per the link below, I have recently done extensive testing of the header length (see black heater hose extensions) to get the proper header length for max performance.

I will soon have the stock headers lengthened at the local welder - header length will be 13", as per my testing :TU::TU:


This motor has serious power - only 100rpms shy on the top end from my ex-Mintor220 Quad. Time will tell if it has the awesome midrange to keep up with the Quads!! :):):)

Onto the woodworking!

Rudder:

As purchased:
* rudder sheeted and cut-out
* LE and TE stock on

Recent work:
* Rudder edged / sanded
* Triple Durant Box installed (I will only use 2 JR8911 - the third is incase I ever put a big Quad in the front and need tailweight)
* 1.6oz removed from Rudder - lightening
* Hinging installed and pinned

Left to go:
* Final sanding
* Covering

Eric at BandEGraphix.com did a phenomenal job of my graphics package for this plane!!!

The 40% Carden Edge had the graphics done by Aerographix.com, but they were very expensive ($400+). Eric at BandEGraphix.com did this whole package for ~ 1/2 the cost. :yes::yes::yes:

All graphics are digitally printed on the vinyl. The chrome is actually a diamond-plate and the black is a carbon-fiber weave. The fill on the tearaways is a texture pattern!! :hot::hot::hot:

Eric also made my name and the BBT logo to match the big "F1" decals!!!



It's gonna look really sharp when finished :TU::TU:
