Fairey Swordfish
Anyone have any info (books, plans etc.) they want to sell or share on the sworcfish.
Would like to build a 1/6th scale (90") version. Thanks Kent. :D |
Hey Kent,
Got a book from Coles a few years ago, Bombers of World War II Edited by David Donald. It has 3 views in colour, some nice colour photos and drawings and a cut away. I can scan it all, PM your E-mail address if your interested. Chris |

I have a few books on this great aircraft that I might be willing to part with. I am in Calgary right now but will be home on Thursday of this week. I will see what I have and if I want to sell. For now here is something for you. |
That would be really cool plane. But finding someone to build a 1/6 scale Bismark would be a little tricky. Especially once you tell him you want to torpedo it.
Just so you know that would be just over 136 feet long. Now that would be impressive. |
There is a guy in Merkirk Ontario (near Chatham) who has restored the only flying Swordfish in the world. He might be receptive to you going and shooting your own documentation pictures.

There is a guy in the Burlington RC club that has built a beautiful model of the Swordfish, complete with swing-back wings. I'm not sure how to get a hold of him, but if you call Karl Gross at Skycraft Hobbies in Burlington, he could tell you.
He may have information to share with you. Ronm |

Go check your June 2003 issue of the MAC MAg. On page 96 there is a couple of pictures of the Swordfish built by Len Ashdown of the Dundas Valley Flyers. There is a short story by Len in which he mentions the Swordfish near Chatham that was restored by Robert Spence. I did a search on the Canadian Civil Aircraft Registry and found information on Robert. Checkout http://www.tc.gc.ca/aviation/activep...x_searchtype=2 to see the info on the aircraft and Robert's address. Hope this helps Kent. |

Any way you can find info on the other Canadian registered Swordfish here: http://www.tc.gc.ca/aviation/activep...x_searchtype=2 |

I'm pretty sure the Brits have one or two Swordfish(es) flying. Mr. Spence has the only one on this side of the Atlantic though. Chris |
As far as was known it was the only flyable fishy left. There are a few and some derelicts around but from my understanding only one that is airworthy.
