Field Layout

Although MAAC has a suggested field layout diagram on their site
correct me if l'm wrong but it is not mandatory to follow for placement
of fencing, the pit area etc. Does anybody have any pics of their flying
field that shows where they located fencing and why. Also any club rules
regarding pitting, start up, taxiing, distance between flight line and
flying stations etc. lt would be helpful in making a comparison to my
field that l have some safety concerns about.
Thanx :?

Hold On for a Bit

MAAC at the moment has guidlines as to field layout, safety and rules. These are only recomendations at present but at the AGM this year there is a recomendation to make them rules. The reasoning is better we make the rules now before they are dictated by the insurance or transport Canada.

If this passes they will no longer be only recomendations. You might want to wait till after the AGM.

Here is my field. The rules we have, is unless you have maac insurance, you have to stay on the parking lot side of the fence. There are starting areas on the angled taxi way strips around the the white table in the center of the pic on both sides of the field. That is where all starting has to take place and there is no taxiing/starting behind that area.

Great looking field Recon! Any idea how long the runways are?

Nice Field :)

The runways are 400' by 30'. Last year they where sealed, so they are nice and black now. This picture is several years old.

Again, great site. I get to travel to Alberta monthly these days, I'll have to visit when the weather gets nicer.
