Smoke system question???

Has anyone every tried to put food coloring in the smoke oil solution they were using? Just wondering if a diff. colour could be achieved?

Re: Smoke system question???

from the looks of that thread it would only be viable with turbines. I wonder if anyone has tried the food colouring route? I might give it a try with an engine on a test stand and see what happens.

Re: Smoke system question???

Apparently it doesn't work.. to colour smoke, you need some pretty intense dyes which cause other problems, like handling, storage, staining the airplane, plus the consequenses of whatever the smoke residue lands on. It is pretty messy stuff by all accounts.......
