G38 Zenoah

Bought a NIB G38 older model with no choke. It has a Walbro carb. Are there parts available to add a choke or do I have to buy a whole new carb. Choking it my finger is not an option that works for me.

Thanks

Ace

Ace, could you post some pictures? I've never seen a walbro carb without a choke??

Parts can be ordered. Like Gordon, would like to see a photo.

Plan "B" stop by your local small engine shop. Our local saw/sled shop is a great source of carb parts, and rebuild kits. Buy a few pints of mix oil, they classify you then as a "Customer" with a need. Ha-ha.

Hope this helps,

Or Plan C - what I did.

I got a new old stock one, with choke, off eBay. Just made sure the venturi size etc were the same - can't remember the exact number, but there are spes out there to help with this. Google knows where. Cost me less than a new carb kit would have..

Re: G38 Zenoah

There used to be a G38 EI conversion thread that also referred to a Carb upgrade
a) suggested a Walbro (I believe it was a WT348 ) which included a choke
NOTE: This same carb allowed for a straight throttle cable connection. You no longer needed a bellcrank

I believe a search for Zenoah G3 EI conversion and possibly include a check for BCMA engines might present the thread

Thanks for the input guys. Reading more on this engine there is "Tatone" accessory choke for the G38 Zenoah Quartz. I like the small engine shop idea and will follow up with them as well. I am sure, with the info provided, that I will sort it out.

Thanks

Ace

Here in High River I have a fantastic small engine shop. The guy is so knowledgeable that you just give him a vague idea of what you need and he pushes the parts across the counter and says "these will fit".

And they do ...............

Hey Sukhoi Guy:

85F today. I bought a plane from a club member here with an almost new HB .61 with Perry Carb. Having some trouble getting it to run...fuel gets to carb but not getting INTO carb. I remember the Perry as being a very free flowing carb so I will try a couple of more things. The last time the engine ran was in 2011 when Clarence Lee checked it out. He said it was a very nice low time (less than 1 hr) engine.

Cheers

Ace (Dad)
