Help me choose a scratch project

Hi Guys,

I have a NIB Saito 91 (no I'm not selling or giving it away).

I want suggestions on what plane to build to put it in.

Rules;
1. No ARFs (nothing against them, own a couple but this is to be a scratch project)

2. Retracts are a plus

3. No Spits, Mustangs, or FW (be there done that want something different)

4. No Extras, Caps or Edges

4. Scale or sport scale subject.

So what do you think I should build?

Howabout a Unionville Beaver. With all the talk of DHC stuff lately that would fit the bill. Add some floats and skis and you can fly it anywhere anytime.

Better yet amphibious floats and then you don't even have to ever take the floats off. :TU:

How about a .60 sized scale Pietenpol ?

HELP CHOOSING A SCALE PROJECT

Well,if you want to have retracts in it,why not try a Tempest or a Typhone or a Globe Swift? All three have retracts, low wings and the fighter look.
Maybe a Glasair with retracts would be nice too!

Aeronca C2

You could do a rather large Aeronca C2 or one of the other early models. Advantages are simplicity and the ability to detail it right out. The engine sits right out in the open and its an opposed twin so lay the Saito on its side and make a dummy cylinder for the other. There is one in the museum in Ottawa I believe so they would be able to supply much of the documentation.

Ya, you could do that. But you'd probably loose your lunch everytime you look at it. :D

How about a pre-WWII?? Like the Dewoitine D.510

A plane I'd personally like to see and done up properly is a Ryan STA. I've only seen a couple really nice ones and they were entered in the desplay at Toledo. Sig use to do a kit that was perfect for a Saito 91. You said retracts were a plus but you didn't say they were mandatory! JMHO.
