I got lucky last night!!
No, not THAT way!
After forgetting my wallet on my desk at work, I came home and scrounged up 5 bucks in loose change so I could by the usual 3 raffle tickets at our monthly club meeting. Lo and behold, mine was the last ticket drawn, so I got to pick the Grand Prize! I got to choose from a drill press (got one, identical), an electric bench grinder (got one, but not as nice) and a Phoenix 40 size Cap 232 ARF! Whoo-Hooo!! Question: I see the control surfaces are already hinged and glued. Do I trust that someone in Vietnam on a production line did it right, or should I take additional steps? I seem to remember someone on another thread having some concerns about a Phoenix model, but I'm jiggered if I can recall what it was. In any case, the Rx and OS46FX from the Avistar I creamed in March, just got a renewed purpose in this world. Dave |
If you don't trust the hinges, you can easily pin them with a tootpick and a drop of thin CA.

I agree with Nuker. I have the 120 size Phoenix Sukhoi, and I will be pinning them with round toothpicks/CA.

Sounds like a plan, guys. I'll do it. And thanks!

:censored: Well Dave, I can't tell you how mad I am to hear that. I was going to go the meeting, but I had a math exam today I had to study for.
But, if I were you, I would not trust the hinges, I wouldn't trust putting an engine and servo's in the plane either  . I tell ya what, I will buy it off you. -Bobby |
Son of a gun!
I started gluing the Cap together last night, and found the hinges are already pinned, with metal pins. Now if only the instructions (extremely minimal) showed what all the little bits of wood in a bag are for..... the Servo tray is not mounted, and there are several short bits of triangle stock and 3 pieces of 1/8 ply about 1 inch by 4 inches in another bag and no hint what to do with them. :? :? I have looked on the internet but so far have had no success tring to lacate the manufacturer/canadian importer etc.. Oh well, I should be able to figure it out. Dave |
So Dave, Hows the Cap doing? Is it fitting together as planned, or are there still unknown pieces?
|
:? Still got Unidentified Bits of Wood, but I think I'll figure out where to put them. It will be next week before I get to look at it again, though, I have to go out of town this weekend, we have a wedding to attend.

AAARRG!!! You should have taken the press :x ! lol So who's going to test fly it when it's ready? :D
|
You can if you're around, but after playing with the Super Sportster, I think I may be capable; if that's not false confidence.
What do you think, will I be ready when it is? Dave |
