Asking for clarity on Balsa USA build

Re: Balsa USA 1/4 Scale J3 cub build.

I have built several GP and SIG kits and in everyone of these plans and in their assembly instructions you are given the distance the prop washer at the end of the prop shaft should be from the firewall.
In the case of this cub, I cannot find any reference in the assembly instructions or fuselage plans what that distance should be. The gentleman from Balsa told me that it should be at least 1/8in forward of the nose of the engine cowl cutout for the propeller shaft. It's all for scale I am being told and they cannot provide it because of so many different types of engine that can be mounted???

Measure the distance on the engine you are going to use, or....put the cowl on the fuse, where it will be sitting, and measure the length you require.
Depending in YOUR engine, you may or may not have to space the engine forward, or just put the cowl on the plane in the position where it all lines up.
Having the cowl a little forward or backward from it's indicated position won't matter...nobody will notice.

Good luck.

Strange way of doing things but every mfgr. is different, begs to ask why do others stipulate a distance. thanks for your input.

Nothing really needs to be mentioned in the instructions, as stated, whatever engine is being used simply has to have the prop washer proud of the cowl by 1/8th or so. Some specify a distance, others simply expect you to look at the plans, and take a measurement from that. It's the same info, just presented to you differently.
