Do you think it's time for a couple changes at RCC?

This post is not meant to hold ANY disrespect for RCC or Jason, I think it's a great site and he does a very good job at running it.
However, in the last few months it has been growing quite a bit and with growth comes new problems.
There has recently been problems with porn spam being posted, the classifieds get ridiculous with off topic posting, flaming etc, and today I had somebody leave me a negative feedback who I have never dealt with.
Jason does a great job, however, I don't think it's fair that he have to keep up with it all by himself. Personally I feel it is time for RCC to have at least one moderator to help Jason with the site. I also feel that with the amount of people on here it is time that the classifieds be modified so that you can only leave feedback AFTER you have done a transaction, not just at random.

So please vote on the topics below, growth is good, but with growth comes the need to change, change is good as well.
Thanks!
Jeremy

Not really. There WAS a problem, but since I've implemented new user approval, there hasn't been any SPAM. If there has been, I missed it and nobody pointed it out.
That's 15 to 30 minutes a day spent approving new user accounts btw...pain in the ass, but worth it if it keeps the boards clean.

If anything gets out of hand and I miss it, members usually let me know.
I actually think the boards have been way better for this time of year compared to years past. Cabin fever usually hits this time of year...

And how do you propose the system is supposed to know that a transaction has occurred?
I can build a classifieds system where RCC handles the money exchanged...classifieds wouldn't be free any more.
You gonna put up the funds to do this work?
I don't want the responsibility of managing member money exchanges that's for sure.

For the less than 0.1% of feedback that have been left without being warranted, which solution would be better?
1. Sinking thousands of dollars into a RCCanada version of eBay and PayPal or,
2. Sending me an email and asking me to look into it.

Anyone out there work for NASA? You ever hear the story of the Russian cosmonauts and the pencil?

I agree growth is good. I think we are managing it well. We have a great group of members that are stand up people. Like anywhere else, there are a few that will simply cause trouble for the sake of causing trouble, but they are usually few and far in between. The membership usually puts them in their place...if not, I do.

I feel that my motorcycle and guitar need a new paint job, you gonna paint them for free?

Typical response from Jason., with class and style. Jeremy I too once shared your ideas on moderators and certain problems on the board, but after contacting Jason in regards to the problems I was having with other members things have gotten better. You have to understand something about Jason and I hope I am right about this, he does nothing without careful consideration. He doesn't jump without knowing exactly where he is going to land and if that spot is in fact where he wants to be. At the time that I was in contact with Jason on a regular basis for some issues, I wasn't sure I agreed with his approach but in time I have come to see that he was right. His actions did have the results (for the most part) I was hoping for. Their are of course still a few people that in my opinion don't contribute anything positive to this forum, but I guess they have the right to breathe too...   .

Jason,

I do think you do an incredible job with this site. It must be a great deal of work. Thanks for the effort and results.

I do not knock Jason. This site is great. I feel feedback is very important!!!! If I purchase a plane from Guelph or Kitchener and pay cash and leave positive feedback do you think the seller should leave feedback ?? I do..............!!!!!!! LGM purchased nothing and still has a negative??

I feel for the cost of $0 I should enjoy the site for what it is and If I don't like it I can possibly make a suggestion. If the suggestion I made is ignored I then have two options.

Option 1. Accept the fact that my suggestion has been considered and rejected ( for whatever reason ) and continue to use the site.

OR

Option 2. Take my $0 I have invested in this site and invest it in a site that is more to my liking.

Thank you for this great site! In my opinion it is better than when I first joined. Except of coarse for all the whining! You really should do something about that.

Cheers. George

Thanks for the kind words guys, but I only do this because I love doing it.

I have some more improvements I want to make to the site and I want to look at more contests...we haven't had any in a while.

I agree, Jeremy didn't deserve that feedback, so I removed it.

Jason
