Looking for F A S T
I have aerobats and floppyjacks. Yet sometimes I feel the need for speed. I have retired the Kougar so am looking for something new.
Any suggestions on a good looking plane that is built for high speed? I am not interested in a delta like a shrike or your typical quickie type plane. Maybe something like the patriot. ARF preferred. and cheap. 45-50 2c engine will be used. ST45 or TT46pro are what I have available on the shelf here for this. whatchatinkishuldoo? |
Do you want just fast, or do you want REAL Fast?
Speed costs money. Exactly how fast do you want to go? Ed S |
Yes, I know this could escalate if I am not careful. For clarity I am not interested in dumping a bunch of cash in pipes, ducted fans, turbines and such. I want to go as fast as I can get with stock engine setup in an airframe that looks like a plane, has some nice lines, not just a zoomy plank.
So mainly, I am just looking for a pleasant looking sleek airframe that will really move along with one of the two engines I have listed (ST45 or TT46). It will probably have retracts. It also needs to be able to slow down a fair bit for landing too as my grass strip isn't very long. So I guess I just want fast. Not REAL fast. Somewhere around 100+ mph should do. :D |
Q-500
Hi Claude,
You may want to look at the Q-500's and similar planes. Check out this site. http://www.pylonworld.com/rc_pylon/q-500/q-500.htm Hope this helps. Fly4Fun, Wayne Miller |
kougar
Sounds like your kougar is the ticket you are asking for...why retire it? if you don't want a delta type or a quickie type, you aern't left with much...either a F20, patriot, F-16 or something along that line. I had a cermark F20 that flew fantastic on a Rossi 45 and retracts.

I retired the Kougar because it is on its fourth life and still pretty. It is flyable, but just isn't the plane it used to be. I guess I could build another one. But before I go there I am looking for alternate ideas.
Boy, I sure like the idea of that F20! That is definitely along the lines of what I am looking for. Is it kit or ARF. Are there any other pictures of the F20 around? I can only find the product photo which doen't give a good overall perspective of the plane. Does anyone here have one and could post a few views of it? What else is there along the lines of the Kougar and F20 |
Yup, F20 there was one for sale on here not too long ago...

Just my two cents here... I have flown both the Patriot and the F-20, both with fixed gear, both with OS 46 Fx's on them. My preference is for the Patriot, but maybe that's just because I have put more flights on it, or maybe it's the swept wing just makes it look cooler! 8)
Now, I do have an F-20 with retracts and a Webra 61 that I haven't flown yet, which may change my mind! Or it might just end up as a crater in the middle of the field!!! Here's a couple of pics of my F-20 (which by the way is FOR SALE here on RC Canada, wink wink). It is the Direct Connections kit, but I believe the Juno RC model is pretty much the same. I had no problem taking off from our DEEP grass field with it, or slowing it down for landing. Steve |
