Get your first look at the Thundertiger EB4 S3

For those of you who do not visit the main page regularily. I present the Thunder Tiger S3 review.

The boys jumped in the party bus, and went down to Hobbycraft in Concord.

We were warmly greeted by Darren and welcomed into the heart of what is Hobbycraft.

Introduced to a conference room where on sitting on the table was a shiny new Thunder Tiger EB4 S3 Pro...yes Pro.

The pro is not going to be released until sometime late 2005.

Much of the aluminum will be replaced with polycarbonate plastic
however Thunder Tiger will be release all these parts as upgrade which should be available for purchase well before the Pro is available as a kit.

I got Flaming Mo a towel, and picked Fozy off the carpet...then WE went to work.

Please check out our full gallery of pictures Here or our slideshow of the S3 SlideShow

This machine boast some impressive specs.
Quote:

This kit has features upon features including a one piece chassis, shocks mounted on the rear of the shock towers, no e-clips, dual fuel pick up, fully enclosed battery and receiver box, lay down steering servo, complete set of rubber sealed ball bearings throughout and fully adjustable toe camber and Ackerman. This is only a sampling of what we saw. The one piece chassis seemed immune to flex or torque no matter how hard we tried.
Now many of you will know the pain of loosing wheel nuts.. I believe this has happened to every 1/8th scale driver at one point and time or another. Thunder Tiger has solved this dilema.

The lasting impression is the weight...this buggy is extremely light (and this one was equipped with an RB .21 and tuned pipe <-- more on this later) Along with its light weight was an impressively strong chassis.
You will not have to worry about sway bars or chassis flex with this machine.

LENGTH: 19.5:
WIDTH: 12"
HEIGHT: 7.08"
WEIGHT: 7.4 lb
WHEEL BASE: ADJUSTABLE FROM 320MM TO 330MM
FRONT TRACK WIDTH: ADJUSTABLE FROM 295MM TO 305MM
REAR TRACK WIDTH: 300MM
Thunder Tiger has taken this another step, they have sought out and found a High Torque Digital Servo. Street Price will be only $120 (give or take) and this little servo pushes some serious strength.
See the specs for yourself.

@180oz you will not have any navigation problems guiding the S3 around the track.

This will be included in the RTR if offered down the road, and is going to be the recommended servo, along with its sister servo to be operated in the S3. The silver aluminum will be released with the Pro edition. Red aluminum available as upgrade parts.

I was impressed with the rows and rows of Thunder Tiger product and parts that Hobbycraft had. Hobbycraft will be the sole distributor for Thunder Tiger in Canada.

So you have to ask yourself..why the big deal. Well this is not just another 1/8.

What impresses me most with this product is not the product.. although I am impressed. I am Impressed that Thunder Tiger has listened to racers in designing the S3. I am thrilled that Thunder Tiger has paired up with Hobbycraft. The pictures..rows and rows of boxes ...parts and upgrades for the S3.

For once Canada is being catered to by a manufacturer. Finally a company has accepted the business challenge to move full speed into our hobby and supply what we've been asking for. Supply, Demand and Availability. It is all in one place.

I am going to buy one of these for next year for that reason. I support those who support Canada and Canadian RC. I won't have to wait 3 weeks for parts. I won't even have to wait 3 days.
The parts are already in the Country.

I hope this will be a growing trend.

I want to drive it now...breath... :D

Now seeing as how we have the only pictures available of these and the other goodies...go forth and spread the word...lets get this out there before the magazines and other web sites..let them come here to get them.

Motorman007 11-19-2004 10:42 AM

PitMan 11-19-2004 11:14 AM

This buggy was at John's Hobbies (Toronto) for a day of viewing pleasure for those lucky enough to drop in. I have only positive things to say and Kudo's to Thunder Tiger for being innovative and taking some chances on a design and several concepts that BIG name Kyosho has not even done. My understanding is that the buggy is expected to sell for high $600 to Low 7's(CAD), the actuall selling price may be affected by USD exchange rate. The kits are expected to be in store shelves within a short time. Spare parts will follow due to different shipping arrangements.
I can also see this chassis will be great for you guys who want to do a "truggy" conversion. The tunnneled chassis design is ULTRA rigid and prevents stress on centre drive components.
I'm down for one!!
